Aqua Iasae
Amid the ruins of Aqua Iasae, the Legion returns with armor, formations, and living history echoing through the Roman thermal springs. For three days, the ancient baths awaken to the sights and sounds of Rome reborn.
The Roman Days of Aqua Iasae
At the ancient thermal springs of Aqua Iasae, near Varaždin, the Legion brings three days of Roman life to one of the most historic sites of northern Croatia.
Day I – As evening falls, the Legion marches through the park toward the ruins of the Roman baths. Visitors gather as the soldiers halt among the trees, greeting the public, taking photos, and sharing the first taste of the Roman atmosphere. When night settles, the opening of the Roman Days begins, and the Legion stands alongside the hosts and reenactors who preserve Aqua Iasae’s heritage. With torches burning, the performance unfolds beside the ancient baths — full formations, demonstrations of discipline, and striking gladiator combats.
Day II – Throughout the day, the camp comes to life. The centurio speaks to the audience, explaining Roman history, equipment, and the legacy of the legionary. The formations return in full display — muro, aciem, testudo, orbem, undique cernite — followed by a large ceremonial circle in which gladiators perform three dramatic duels, each revealing the skill and intensity of ancient combat.
Day III – The final day mirrors the second: a living presentation of Roman life, military precision, and gladiatorial spectacle. As the event comes to its end, Aqua Iasae once again echoes with marching feet, commands, and the spirit of Rome revived among its ancient stones. SCROLL TEXT ISTO EFFECT
